Obama's Cheney Dilemma | Newsweek Politics | Newsweek.com

The confessions of Khalid Sheik Mohammed have been dubious at best and probably rumblings of a half mad fundamentalists that was not necessarily in on the plans anyway. But lets run with the argument that torture works. Lets put that on Mohammed Atta, one of the actual pilots that flew into the World Trade Center, lets theoretically capture him and do all kinds of crazy stuff to him. Lets nail his nuts to a 2X4, yank out his hair in clumps. Clamp electric jumper cables to his penis while water boarding him to the screaming sounds of Guns and Roses or Hank Williams Jr wanting to have some football. Lets put an electrified dildo in his ass and drill holes in his teeth with no Novocain and, using a piece of junk, made in China, Craftsman drill. You think this guy is gonna tell you he has been training for two years to hijack a jetliner and fly it himself into one of the World Trade Center buildings? Huh? This guy was committed to doing this and very few people knew it. None of the above would have made him spill the beans, and you are delusional if you think it would have. It was 8 years! 8 years, between the first attack on the World Trade Center and the next attack on Sept 11. These guys were celebrating the fact that attack number 3 did not happen on their watch.

Obama's Cheney Dilemma Newsweek Politics Newsweek.com: "At a retirement ceremony recently for a top-level intelligence official, the senior spooks in the room gave each other high-fives. They were celebrating the fact that terrorists have not attacked the United States since 9/11. In the view of many intelligence professionals, the get-tough measures encouraged or permitted by George W. Bush's administration—including 'waterboarding' self-proclaimed 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed—kept America safe."
