Economy eats into dining out pnj.com Pensacola News Journal: "'When you have companies like Solutia or General Electric and Wayne Dalton laying hundreds of workers off, those workers don't have the money to go out to eat,' de Varona said. 'It upsets me that we can predict the path of the hurricane, but we didn't have Washington economists warning us about the economy.'"
I am sorry Mr. de Varona, but there were many economists that said we were in a downward spiral at least a year ago and the current winner of the Nobel Prize for Economics, Paul Krugman" was warning about the housing crises over two years ago. I guess he believed Phil Gramm when he said we are a nation of whiners, or George Will declaring we are not in a recession and nowhere near it just a few months ago. Maybe he believed Peggy Noonan, the conservative columnist when she wrote that everything still looks great out there. When you get your news from Fox "News" and listen to Rush and Sean and Boortz then all you get is cheer leading for the Republican party and boosting GWB's legacy. Speaking of legacy, I think it is becoming clearer that GWB will go down as probably the worst the country has had.
